A little about us

The single most important characteristic about any employee at Banter is that they are all “T” shaped. A “T” shaped person has a key skill that they employ to the highest standard but they also have many other skills that they can turn their hand to with ease. This allows us to provide the amount of services that we do and we believe it is what makes us truly unique in our sector.

Liam Andrew Wright – Managing Director

  • Bio
Liam started Banter Media in 2009 with Aleksis Williams out of a semi-derelict old mill in Stalybridge, Manchester with no windows and no heating. The summers didn’t exist and the winters were so cold you had to wait 20 minutes for the computers to boot up.

In 2011 Liam took over full control of the company and moved to Ashton Under Lyne into a small office above DNA Estates. It is there that the company flourished and then in 2012 moved into what was The Hop Pole Hotel on Oldham Road. The building that is still affectionately referred to as ‘the pub’ by many has been refurbished into a new purpose fit studio for media production.

Would you rather win the Super Bowl, the World Cup or a Gold Medal?: World Cup – but for Ireland! I’m half Irish and you know the party would be epic! What’s the best Batman film? (Bearing in mind the correct answer is The Dark Knight Rises): The Dark Knight – you can’t beat Heath in that movie. The inevitable has happend and Google have started a war with Apple. Who would you fight for?: Apple – I have 2 iphones and an iPad mini – so I think I’d be put on the front line if I fought for Google. What is your favourite film?: Fight Club – the film is perfect. (closely followed by anything by P.T Anderson)

Seb Coleman-Celis – Creative Director

  • Bio
Seb started work at Banter as a part-time PA and has worked his way to the top of the company in 2 years. He leads the company “Thank You” department which is our equivalent of a “customer retention team”. We don’t believe in hard sales or cold calling. We believe that taking a genuine interest in our clients both professionally and personally is what helps to keep clients coming back to us.

So if you’re working with us then its very likely that you’ll be working closely with Seb in organising your workflow and making sure you get the best product we can deliver.

Would you rather win the Super Bowl, the World Cup or a Gold Medal?: The Super Bowl pretty much purely for the Super Bowl ring and preferably the 2001 New England Patriots ring. What’s the best Batman film? (Bearing in mind the correct answer is The Dark Knight): Well obviously the correct answer is The Dark Knight. I love Jim Carey in that film! The inevitable has happend and Google have started a war with Apple. Who would you fight for?: I’m pretty sure I would be shot by whichever side I joined for using the other’s products. I have had numerous iPods, iPhones, iPads and apple computers and I also have several Google accounts and use Google services hourly. Why can’t we all just get along anyway? I think I would be the chosen one who brought peace to the world and united the forces of Google and Apple so that together we could explore the universe for years to come. What is your favourite film?: Vanilla Sky

Adam Steel – Lead Studio Engineer

  • Bio
Adam is the longest serving member of the team and has been with Banter since the days of cold old mills and no windows. He heads the tech side of the company. Whether it be organising the server, configuring the new adobe suite, re-patching the studio… whatever the tech needs Adam won’t be too far away. Adam also runs the recording studio and works with 90% of the artists who come through our doors. If you book into the studio to record a couple of songs, EP, album or your complete masterworks you’ll meet Adam at some point through this process.

Would you rather win the Super Bowl, the World Cup or a Gold Medal?: The World Cup. I’m not much of a footballer (in fact, i’m quite useless) but the recognition from the Super Bowl would be useless in the UK and after a couple of Olympics have passed and people beat your records the memory fades, but the World Cup? A real sense of national pride would take hold and you’d be regarded as a hero for the rest of your life, and possibly beyond.

What’s the best Batman film? (Bearing in mind the correct answer is The Dark Knight Rises): BATMAN AND ROBIN!!!! – “Ice to see you!”

The inevitable has happend and Google have started a war with Apple. Who would you fight for?: I think i’d be on the Apple side – it’s better funded and they’d have an unusual but effective strategy to storm the Google headquarters. Without Maps though, it’d be hard to find.

What is your favourite film?: Twelve Monkeys, starring Bruce Willis and Brad Pitt in very unusual roles….
